BURNS ROAD
KARACHI

TRADITION MEETS MODERN FLAVOURS

Burns Road (also spelled “Burnes Road”) is located near M.A. Jinnah Road in central Karachi, not far from Saddar and the historic areas of the city. Named after British doctor James Burnes during colonial times, the road has transformed from a residential-commercial strip into one of Pakistan’s most famous food streets, known for serving traditional cuisine that dates back several generations.

It has been a food hub since the early 1950s, particularly after the Partition, when many families from India migrated and brought with them diverse culinary traditions. These communities settled in Karachi and set up small eateries on Burns Road, many of which are now multi-generational businesses.

KARACHI STYLE
PIZZA

Karachi-style pizza is a bold fusion of traditional Italian pizza and Pakistani street food flavors. It features a soft, thick, and fluffy crust—often compared to naan or pan pizza—and is sometimes brushed with garlic butter or sprinkled with herbs and chili flakes. Instead of the classic tomato sauce, it uses spicy alternatives like chili garlic sauce or masala ketchup for a tangy, fiery base. Toppings are loaded and desi, including chicken tikka, seekh kabab, beef boti, and other BBQ-style meats. Crunchy vegetables like onions, capsicum, and green chilies add texture and extra heat. Cheese is used generously, with gooey mozzarella often combined with sharp cheddar for extra flavor. The overall taste is rich, smoky, and intensely spiced, delivering a true Karachi kick in every bite. It’s commonly served with garlic mayo, spicy ketchup, and green chutney on the side. Every element is turned up a notch—more spice, more cheese, more flavor. Karachi-style pizza isn’t subtle; it’s bold, loaded, and unapologetically desi.

Karachi Style
BBQ

It is intensely spiced, deeply marinated, and flame-grilled over open charcoal, drawing influences from Mughlai, Punjabi, and Bohra cuisines. Unlike the milder BBQs found elsewhere, Karachi BBQ is fiery, tangy, and full of attitude—a true reflection of the city’s fast-paced and diverse spirit.

Whether it’s served at upscale restaurants, roadside dhabas, or iconic food streets like Burns Road, Karachi BBQ is all about flavor-packed meat with a perfect char and juicy center.
